BMW recently unveiled a brand new performance version of its flagship electric sedan. The i7 M70 xDrive is nothing short of the fastest production electric BMW in the history of the brand, which is even more impressive considering its weight of over 2,689 kg.

This new version of the Bavarian flagship sedan boasts a power output of 650 horsepower and 748 pound-feet of torque at all times, with 811 pound-feet of torque in M Launch Control mode, allowing it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds. These figures closely rival those of exotic cars. However, this speed demon reaches its top speed quite rapidly as it is electronically limited to 250 km/h.

The i7 M70 xDrive is also the most powerful electric vehicle in the entire BMW lineup. The i40 M50 has a power output of 536 horsepower, while the iX M60 SUV boasts 610 horsepower. Therefore, the flagship sedan takes the lead with its 650 horsepower.

As for the electric aspect, there isn't much information available yet. However, it is known that the sedan will be compatible with fast charging at a maximum capacity of 195 kW. It will also benefit from 10% to 80% charging in under 34 minutes. Currently, its maximum estimated range is 475 kilometers on a full charge, which is certainly respectable.

To hell with subtlety!

For the presentation model, the German manufacturer chose a two-tone paint scheme that is the antithesis of discretion. One thing is for sure, this large sedan captured our attention during its unveiling at the Shanghai Auto Show. The i7 M70 also features unique 21-inch wheels as standard. However, with the performance package, it switches to 20-inch wheels, allowing for sportier tires to be added to the mix. One of the most distinctive elements of the car remains the brake calipers, which are painted blue or black depending on the package you choose.

The M division has made numerous modifications to the car to enhance its performance. The adaptive air suspension has been completely revised.

The BMW i7 M70 xDrive is expected to arrive at dealerships in the coming months with a starting price of $185,000 before options.
